How to live, love, laugh and last a lifetime.
“In youth we learn, in age we understand.”
—Marie von Ebner-Eschenbach
Sometimes it can feel as if your life has come to a dead end: your income has hit a ceiling level, your relationships do not excite you any more, your health is not getting any better and your happiness levels are plummeting. Most people accept this nightmare as "signs of aging" because they do not know otherwise. However, it doesn't have to be that way, and in fact it can be the other way round. Our culturally accepted beliefs and expectations about what aging looks like are not hard-set rules any of us need to follow. The older you get, the wiser you become, and you enjoy in your health, wealth and happiness in a more stable way.
A Life Unleashed
Many people think that Yoga is a strong, demanding physical practice, and older adults especially express delight at finding classes to suit their physical capabilities as well as meet their desire to be healthy and happy.
The three wisdom disciplines of Shanti Yoga, namely yoga, meditation and ayurveda are interpreted in Healthy Ageing as Chair Yoga, Nidra and Mindfulness and Ayurveda, making Shanti Yoga accessible to support the older person, and people who might otherwise miss out,  to remain empowered and independent for as long as possible.
This course is for you if you would like to understand your own body’s aging process better, and help others discover how to live in harmony with the agelessness of their soul.
It will allow you to step into a way of living in the world that will quite literally slow the aging process down, and allow you to more fully embrace a deeper spiritual context for aging that will expand your experience beyond what you’ve been led to expect. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.
Natural practices from the three wisdom traditions: yoga, ayurveda and meditation will help you and others discover the power of your ageless self.
The Coming of Age
At the end of the day, life care is aged care.
Aging is a lifelong, natural, powerful process that unites us all. It is part of the cycle of life and contains many blessings. Yet our society often fails to provide a viable model for helping people see all the potential they have in their later years. As a result, you may find yourself without a meaningful vision around making the most of what can be a very beautiful, healthy and purpose-filled stage of life.
Conscious aging is so much more than improving your physical health, mental acuity and longevity. It includes elevating your spiritual and emotional wellbeing according to the stage of life you are experiencing.
General understanding
• Ethical engagement
• Primary ageing changes that affect the body.
• Common secondary ageing changes, and how to support yourself or an older person experiencing them.
• The neuroscience of ageing and how this affects emotions and attitude.
• Psychological changes that occur with ageing.
• Mental health in aged care.
• About osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, heart Fall prevention, rehabilitation, pain management and the positive interpersonal neurobiological effects of practicing in community.
Ayurveda: a powerful pathway for being relevant
Ayurveda, the science of life from the Vedas, and sister discipline of Yoga has eight specialities. These are
• Internal Medicine and Therapeutics, kayachikitsa
• Gynaecology, Pediatrics and Treatment of Children, kaumara bhritya or baala chikitsa
• Psychology and psychosomatic diseases, graha chikitsa or bhuta vidya
• Treatment of disease of the organs above the clavicle, urdhvanga chikitsa, or shalakya tantra
• Surgery, shalya chikitsa
• Toxicology, damstra chikitsa or visha chikitsa or agada tantra
• Geriatrics, rejuvenation and anti-aging, jara chikitsa or rasayana chikitsa
•.Aphrodisiac therapy, vrsha chikitsa or vajikarana chikitsa
Of special interest is rasayana chikitsa, rejuvenation and antiageing.  Ayurveda provides guiding principles that will teach you how to live longer, feel younger and be happier. You will learn how the universe encodes herself in the body, expressing itself as three mind-body types (doshas), a personsl blue print to survive and thrive, how to keep your body in balance, toxcity and an Ayurvedic detox and how to bring your body back to its natural state of health, with the understanding that food is the foundation of health.
The Yogic path offers wisdom that supports an empowering vision for conscious aging in today's world - one that is infused with vitality, passion and purpose, as well as continual growth, radiant health and service to the world. journey, and the destination. It's practice is not athletic in nature - even though the vast majority of yoga is being taught that way today. Holding yourself accountable is one of the foundation principles of success.
The beauty of Shanti Yoga is that it unfolds gradually, organically, and at each person's own pace. As you attune to your body’s wisdom, you begin to access deeper levels of vitality, relaxation, and resilience that can serve you both on and off the mat.
A yoga practice can help you improve with age. It does not have to be taxing in order for it to be dynamic. On the contrary, yoga can meet you where you are, in all stages of life. Shantiji has authored this accessible, empowering approach to yoga specifically tailored to a pain-free range of motion and in celebration of ageing. More than a modified 'gentle yoga' course, this course is designed to adress the needs of all participants. It promotes better neck, back and hip alignment based on the unique needs of seniors by offering numerous asana modifications - from chair-only, to chair supported, to mat, depending upon whether the student is fit or sedentary.
As a yoga health educator, you can make an enormous difference teaching seniors whose lives are currently limited by stiffness, pain and fear. Shanti Yoga is a promising intervention towards better breathing and therefore increased energy. Yoga has one of the lowest barriers to entry of any exercise that improves balance. It increases mobility and improved balance, thereby reducing the risk and fear of falling for older adults.
The Centres for Disease Control and Prevention report that one in three adults older than 65 years will fall, and each year, in that demographic, falls are the leading cause of injury, debilitation and death. Evan if it does not lead to injury, a fall can lead the person to fear falling again. This fear in turn causes then to limit activities, which leads to reduced mobility and loss of physical fitness, which in turn increases the actual risk of falling. A classic vicious cycle.
The benefits students will experience are numerous, no matter what their fitness level. Discussions and practices include:
• How to modify a yoga practice to minimise harm for the older student
• The benefits of a yoga practice to improve overall health and wellbeng.
• Yoga practices for better posture, increased strength, increased flexibility.
• Improved balance and a lessened fear of falling
• Breathing practices to rejuvenate the immune system, clear block and shift disease
• Cultivating focus and concentration to calm the mind
• How to release stress.
Mindfulness provides useful training in increasing emotional intelligence and mental strength for work and life. The training pivots around attentive breathing and being present, not being on autopilot. This increases calmness, mental clarity and an inner compass for managing the wave of overwhelm. it enables one to centre and be grounded in difficult situations, and leads to a clear, joyful mind, better able to deal with personal and global challenges.
Discussions include:
• A positive vision of ageing: Conscious ageing equals growth (rather than decline).
• Discovering a path that nurtures the individual.
• Reboot the brain, body and attitude so that you can make the most of your wisdom years.
• The pleasures and perils of the elegant elder
• Self awareness, personal growth and grace.
• The importance of a support system, a supportive community of kindred spirits and conscious ageing resources
• Living in the light
Whether you’re a baby boomer, an elder, or someone who works with older people, Transforming Aging is designed for anyone looking to be empowered around the aging process. Our amazing and dynamic mentors and presenters will help you experience your full potential as you grow into the later chapters of your life.

Taking a big, deep breath calms the emotions, helps you think more clearly and relaxes both mind and body. But it does more than that. If you breathe more slowly, at or below 10 breath cycles per minute, you engage the parasympathetic nervous system. Slower breathing activates the vegus nerve which helps the brain restore itself. Cultivting a deeper, slower, and more regulated breath also helps cultivate an increased heart rate variability. Having a more variable rate means that generally your body is more adaptable to its environment, and can recuperate faster. For instance, if you push yourself and climb stairs quickly, you'll notice your heart rate increases, and if you're in good physical condition, you'll recover more quickly than if you're not. When your overall heart and nervous system is more adaptable, you are generally more resilient to stresses both mentally and physically
Harness the healing power of breath. When you learn to breathe diaphragmatically, the breath becomes the flywheel for a healthy mind and body. Diaphragmatic breathing (as taught in Shanti yoga) constantly massages the internal organs. This rhythmic motion transmits beneficial messages to the entire autonomic nervous system and encourages all bodily systems to operate optimally. When diaphragmatic breathing is established, inhalation and exhalation become one continuous motion allowing the breath to aid digestion, the assimilation of essential nutrients and the elimination of waste products from the body.

As a yoga teacher you have tremendous gifts to offer the world. Yoga teachers have to play many roles - the coach, the mentor, the spiritual guide, the counsellor. Strong foundations in the practices of yoga, teaching others as well as yourself, the ability to lead and speak with authority, and your own spiritual, mental and physical strength and happiness are what's needed.

Beyond developing your own style in class, you need to have a firm understanding of why and what you're doing in class, in relations to alignment, energy an precision, unique body awareness, pose and complementary poses, counterposes, safe entry and exists of long-hold poses, the use of props and breath to help students move deeper into the asana and into themselves, more about the practice and less about the pose, awakening the subtle awareness of the chakras in the mind, body and spirit, and partnerwork and working in pairs to assist each other (inversions & backbends).

Do what you love and the money will follow. If your business does not bring you joy, you might as well work for someone else. Regardless of what type of business you run or the job you have, understanding these core concepts and leveraging them in your daily life is the key to your success! In fact you don't even need to have your own business to benefit from this wisdom. Life goes full spectrum. The gutsy, hard work in self transformation invites you to do what you love and share what you love. Success follows core life principles.
But how can you make this work for you?

The starting point lies in taking conscious control over the present. The present is your future. Establishing preparation is based on conscious living choices. First the earth. Plan for a peril-free future by creating paradise on earth, living city life with eco-focus, and using sacred geometry with stellar mimicry.

Then you will need to endorse, support and enhance your global and strategic collaborations with insight, and prepare for all contingencies. Seek planners, sponsors, resources and eco-awake supporters of peace-attuned lifestyles and futures, all ready to help. Restore water purity, ensoul the food chain, plant trees, study the starry heavens and the flower of life geometry, expand nature hikes and wilderness visits. Collaborate with outspoken positive futurists who are indigo leader-trainers, star seeds, gem healers, earth-water enhancers, shamans, musicians, teachers, light workers. Project a lifestyle where all facts intertwine that one that fulfils the vision blueprint.

Plan a financial path of growth, build a real business rather than just accumulating jobs and over-committing your time and energy, which could lead to implosion. Opportunity is everywhere. It will fall into your lap as you actively attract financial success into your life. It's an on-going process which can be a lot of fun once you know how. Living simply is wonderful. But living in poverty might just be a waste of your talent and potential.

Personal development can be one of the most tedious skills to learn because it requires a drastic change in ourselves. Yet, it can also be the most exciting, as we primarily grow as human beings by discovering new truths about ourselves and our reality. You can't take short-cuts through the land of make believe. Genuine personal growth is honest growth. Your first commitment is to discover and accept the hard truth about yourself, regardless of how difficult or unpleasant the consequences may be. You can't solve a problem if you deny the existence of it. When you deny your problems, you turn away from Truth. The more lies you tell yourself, spawns even more lies, conditioning your mind with falsehoods that weave themselves into your identity and you become disconnected from your true self. You aren't here to endure such an existence but to learn how to create a life of your own choosing.

How would you act if you had a billion dollars to spare? Making a list of what you would do with so much money can be revealing. Dissolving inner, limiting beliefs about money, success, self-worth and more will allow more abundance into your life. Most people dream of winning a lottery, but almost none are prepared for it. You have to grow into handling that much more money. For many, it's too much, too soon. After you buy the new cars, mansions, the toys and travel and after you pay off your debt and give money to family, friends and causes you believe in, what you you then do? Do you need more money, or clarity and action. Awakened wealth: divine prosperity is multidimensional.

GOALS - The Basics of setting goals and achieving goals

There's a saying if your dream does not scare you, it's not big enough.
Set your goals high. Goals help you get the most out of life. They create motivation. Motivations creates energy. Energy helps make your dreams a reality. Businesses need them, governments need them, and you need them too.
Think about what is really worth putting your time and energy into this year.
  • Develop a steadfast vision, so that you understand the reasons behind your ambitions.
  • Begin with a set of specific, written, medium and long term goals that clearly define the outcome.
  • Identify the resources you need to achieve success.
  • Develop a scheduled plan of action.
  • Focus on what is important and get on with it. You'll need to learn: how to work around obstacles and change your strategies without changing your vision; how to become a team player; how to master your time, environment and yourself to take the steps toward reaching your aspirations.
  • Overcome the fear of failing. Be more afraid of not taking on the challenge and regretting it later.
  • Surround yourself with greatness. Remember “you are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” Jim Rohn.
  • Discipline yourself to delay gratification in the short term in order to enjoy greater rewards in the long term.
  • Go all in.

BEYOND BUSINESS: The Spiritual guide to attracting abundance

Live Longer and Prosper

Many people believe that it is shameful to ask for and expect  money in return for meeting the most pressing needs of our human family. There are activities that you're not supposed to get paid for, or not paid very much anyway. These include: peacemaking, care taking, teaching, saving the environment, feeding the hungry, fighting injustice, helping humanity awaken and evolve spiritually, supporting people get their emotional needs met.
This kind of thinking determines the career decisions that people make and the businesses people start and tragically, many of our brightest minds work for corporations and organisations that aren't in alignment with their deepest values or they're busy running businesses that don't feed their souls.
If you're not supposed to get paid for doing something wonderful for humanity, or the planet, then what are you supposed to get paid for? Why shouldn't the work that provides the most real value to humanity and all living things be among the work that is rewarded the most financially? Divine prosperity is multidimensional. Particularly as all of our biggest global problems have multiplied profitable solutions.
There is no conflict between profit and serving the world. Sometimes the beneficiaries of your work are people who are in poverty, or non-human life forms that can't pay you. However, there is money circulating that can fund any truly important work that provides real value. Since we are all connected, there are always individuals and organisations willing to fund the initiated that are aligned with the highest good of all. The amount of money circulating and available is so enormous that it is beyond our comprehension. So, if you're seeing the world through the lens of scarcity, I invite you to remove those dark coloured scarcity glass. There is more than enough money and resources to solve all of our global problems. Awakened wealth just needs to be allocated properly.
The starting point is for you to manifest your full potential in service to the greater good. This means that you must do what is aligned with your highest good and the highest good of all. Therefore you must choose how you spend your time and energy. Will you spend it on activities that generate an abundance of money or on activities that make a significant contribution to others? Yes, it is okay to get paid for changing the world. You will discover that this entails changing yourself.
Here are the broad brush-strokes:
Self Awareness: When you are self aware, and know yourself with self-acceptance and self-love you have real power or mastery over your own self.
Core Beliefs: Address core beliefs to break free from old and unhelpful behavioural patterns
Sankalpa: Form clear intentions to help you get from where you are to where you would like to be.
The Universe: Depend upon the infinite source and not the rigid ego mind and its plans and expectations
Educate yourself about the universe's laws. Become sensitive to the clues from the universe and engage them to transform your intentions into realities. Loving what is, follow the chain of coincidences with commitment and dedication
Consistency: Nothing great happens overnight or out of the blue. If it appears that way, it is an illusion…smoke and mirrors. Becoming takes time. Greatness is a habit. Embracing a new way of life requires living it out for an extended period of time.
Create effortlessly: Your creativity is boundless. You are constantly creating yourself and your reality, through your thoughts, ideas and actions. You are magnetic, for better or worse. You are attracting the people and circumstances that will confirm the story you deep down believe about your life, and carry our in actions.
Wholeness: When one thing changes, everything must change. You are the whole, not just the pieces. You can't improve in just one area of you. When greatness hits, it gets it all. And, for any change to be effective, the whole of you must move forward together.
